Så min fru hade sagt till mig att försöka uppföra mig och ”försöka skratta åt folks skämt och försöka…du vet…undvika att dra egna. Och undvik att prata om sport. Och försök att inte…prata”. Det gick bra. Eller det gick i alla fall okej. Eller i alla fall till en början. Men sen noterade en person som jobbar på bokförlaget att jag hade en keps med ett broderat ”D” på framsidan, så hon frågade om det var ”någon sorts hockeylag?”. Och då svarade jag att det var ett lag i amerikansk fotboll. Och då frågade hon ”vad heter de?”. Och då svarade jag ”Dallas Cowboys”.

Och bokförlaget ligger i Stockholm. Och jag är inte uppvuxen i Stockholm. Så ibland kan det uppstå viss vokalförvirring när jag har dialoger med människor med öron utvuxna i Stockholm.

Så personen som jobbar på bokförlaget vände sig till en annan person som också jobbar på bokförlaget och såg förvirrad ut, och sedan sa hon försiktigt: ”Sa han Dallas…Cowards? Det är väl ett konstigt namn på ett lag?”. Och då började alla skratta. Och då sa jag ”Cowboys”. Och då skrattade alla för att det var ett roligt missförstånd. Och så sa jag ”COWBOYS!”, för jag ville liksom poängtera det, och det är väl möjligt att jag sa det litegrann i versaler men de har förlorat fem raka matcher och det har liksom varit en lite känslomässig säsong. Och då sa en tredje person, som också jobbar på bokförlaget, att det lät lite som Jonny Cash-låten ”A boy named Sue” att döpa ett lag till ”Cowards”, för att tvinga dem att tuffa till sig. Och då skrattade alla igen.

Och jag försökte skratta.

Det är ett väldigt bra bokförlag och flera av personerna i rummet verkade ha olika sorters chefspositioner. Så jag försökte verkligen skratta. Och sen försökte jag att inte…prata.

Det blev väl lite varierad framgång med båda.
